Which skin cancers do you treat?
Dr. Moubayed only treats skin cancer on the face and neck. We tread the three types of skin cancer:
– basal cell carcinoma
– squamous cell carcinoma
– malignant melanoma
Skin cancer is the most common and fastest growing cancer in Canada. The majority of skin cancer occurs on the face
Do you treat other cancers?
We also frequently treat salivary gland cancers (such as parotid cancers) as these can require reconstruction of the facial nerve.
What type of facial reconstruction services do you offer?
We offer facial reconstruction for patients having undergone cancer resection on their facial skin or elsewhere in the head and neck.
We also offer facial reconstruction services for patients who have suffered facial trauma, accidents, or burns.
Facial reconstruction can be performed with simple procedure such as grafts or tissue transfer from an area adjacent to the area that needs to be reconstructed (local or regional flaps). However, sometimes reconstructions require more extensive surgery such as custom implants or tissue that is taken from elsewhere in the body and then transferred to the area to be reconstructed using tiny sutures to create a new blood supply (free flaps). Certain reconstructions require two or more procedures.
Ensure to ask your doctor for a referral before scheduling a facial reconstruction appointment.
